FAQs

Q- What is Neo-Templarism?

A- Neo-Templarism refers to modern-day groups or movements that claim to be inspired by, or are descended from, the original medieval Knights Templar order. These groups often adopt the symbols, rituals, and philosophy of the historical order, but may reinterpret them to fit their modern-day beliefs and practices.

Neo-Templar groups often emphasize the pursuit of knowledge, personal development, and spiritual growth through Christian, esoteric or mystical practices. They may also promote ideals such as chivalry, honor, charity, and Christian virtue which were associated with the historical Templar order.

Some Neo-Templar groups are focused on historical research and preservation, while others are more focused on spiritual growth or philosophical exploration.

Q- What is Neo-Templar Watch’s overall view of Neo-Templarism?

A- The very best in Neo-Templarism has the potential for great cooperation, charity and fraternity crafted in the spiritual identity of the Knights Templar. Modern Templars have often fallen short of this in many ways. This resource stands with the hope that readers will assess the information about various groups so they may belong to one that best represents those ideals for them.

Q- Where does Neo-Templar Watch get its information?

A- Neo-Templar Watch is an aggregation site of publicly available information. The site also accepts information contributed by featured Neo-Templar groups, once it is vetted and verified. If you wish to submit information to be included in a profile, it is welcome. Nevertheless, information will not be added if it does not meet our vetting standards or if we have verified information that is contradictory. This project ought to be considered a perpetual work in progress. Some information will remain unknown until provided by a knowledgeable source.

Q- Is Neo-Templar Watch neutral and unbiased?

A- It is the aim of this project to try and cut through the many claims and overt propaganda that is often found in various templar groups and present facts and multiple sides through a neutral lens. That being said, it is impossible to be free from error or subliminal influence. With contributors representing many Orders, it is hoped that time and cross-checking will minimize any bias, insofar as it is possible. But this is not to say that negative, factual, information will not be included. Just because information is negative does not make it biased. Its an unfortunate reality that Neo-Templarism has its share of negative facts associated with issues like schisms and power struggles. Reading such facts may cause someone to trust one side over another, yet this is not indicative of biased reporting, but allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions. Our goal is not to promote or condemn any particular group, but rather to provide a balanced, informed, and critical evaluation of the neo-Templar phenomenon. The listed points on each profile are derived either from direct documentation, vetted testimony, or reasonable deduction.
